Allow me to present one of the most remarkable pieces in my diverse collection.
Depending on the viewer's degree and quality of religiosity, it could be called "mystical," "prophetic," or even "divine," or simply strange or at least quite unusual.
The author's initial concept was to depict a musical trio as the main characters of an ancient Indian epic, directly connected with art, in the image of a distant star nebula.
The central figure in the composition — Lord Shiva — is the cosmic principle of existence, whose authorized representative in each of us is the heart. As long as the heart beats — life continues. As long as the small drum — damru — in Shiva's hands sounds, the heart of the Universe works — it exists.
The figure on the left side of the composition — Goddess Saraswati — is the cosmic principle of creation, which, according to Vedic philosophy, manifests in humans as creativity.
In the iconographic traditions, Sri Saraswati is always depicted playing a special string instrument called the "vina."
Lord Krishna — the universal principle of evolution, permanently changing everything and everyone according to the unbreakable laws established by him. His favorite instrument is the flute, symbolizing creation as infinite music, whose meaning is the sound in the present moment, as well as the joy of experiencing this moment and its unique sound.
When the work was nearing completion, it suddenly became clear that, besides the main characters, another figure appeared on the canvas, directly related to the main one according to the ancient Indian epic's plot, but one I had not recalled before, during, or after painting!
Look closely, and I hope you will easily notice that next to Krishna's figure, the head of a cow is clearly visible, a frequent companion of his youthful travels — the very "sacred animal" about which Mahatma Gandhi said that the cow is a symbol of the defenselessness of the natural world, appealing to human compassion...
