The canvas depicts Grandfather Mazay sailing through a flooded forest on a raft made of logs and… hares. His face expresses concentration, determination, and perhaps some fatigue. He seems to be used to his role as a rescuer and performs it with imperturbable calm, despite the absurdity of the situation.
