Irina Laskova is a contemporary Russian artist and designer from southern Moscow Region. She is a member of the Creative Union of Artists of Russia and a regular participant in local, national, international, group, and solo exhibitions. She is also a multiple-time laureate of international contemporary art competitions.
Irina Laskova’s distinctive artistic practice is dedicated to the sensual, delicately structured world of the woman — her inner search for identity in an ever-changing world. Her refined female figures combine graphic precision with poetic spirituality, inner strength with femininity.
The artist works in a unique signature technique on wood, combining pastel, acrylic, wood stain, and metal leaf.
“I love using the technique of gilding in my work. The golden background gives a feeling of timelessness and divine presence,” says the artist.
Several factors have shaped Irina Laskova’s artistic style. Her first formal education was in traditional wood painting, which sparked her deep appreciation for wood as a material, as well as for line, stylization, and decorative elements. She was also significantly influenced by the Art Nouveau movement, particularly the “golden period” of Gustav Klimt, whose refined decorativeness and symbolism deeply resonate in her own visual language.
