At the center is a metal cylinder, resembling either a pipe or a container, with a schematic image of an atomic nucleus on one of its ends. This object, lying on a tiled floor, serves as the axis around which the entire composition is built.
The cylinder is positioned between two «walls», which are essentially mirrored or reflective surfaces. On these surfaces, we see distorted, blurred reflections — as if different versions of the same object viewed from various angles. The stepped structures on the sides enhance the feeling of a labyrinth or a complex system that must be navigated.
Sotnikova urges the viewer not to accept the obvious as the only truth. What is hidden inside the cylinder? Is the atom a symbol of destructive power or fundamental knowledge? The painting clearly demonstrates that to understand the essence of a phenomenon (be it an atom or a life situation), one must examine it from all sides, seeing the reflections and distortions that arise when the observer changes. The true «point of view» is not at the center but in the process of comprehending all available perspectives.
