Basilica di Santa Maria della Salute (Basilica of Saint Mary of Health) is located at Cape of Punta della Dogana nearby Grand Channel (Gran Canale) entry of district Dorsoduro, it was constructed in 1631–1687 as thank-you offering to the Virgin Mary for escaping plague in 1630 year. Architect - Baldassare Longena. Style of basilica is Venetian Baroque. It is one of the most well known churches in Venice and token of the city. Counter-lighting turns architecture into vague silhoette highlighting minor details.
