Olga Bezhina's painting «Warrior» is a powerful and deeply symbolic piece inspired by an ancient marble relief from the 4th century BC, found on the Taman Peninsula. The artist reinterprets the antique image, filling it with new energy and color through her unique thick impasto technique.
The composition is divided into two main parts: the left, darker and monochrome, depicts the warrior, while the right shows a bright, dynamic landscape.
On the left side of the canvas, among the textured strokes of ochre, brown, and muted red, the outlines of the warrior’s figure can be discerned. Thick strokes create the effect of cracked marble, which comes alive under the light.

Fresh green and light green strokes dominate here, depicting foliage or grass. At the bottom, this greenery transitions into rich orange and reddish tones, creating the impression of fertile earth or an autumn landscape. Bright blue and yellow accents also appear.
The thick impasto technique gives the painting a powerful texture, where each brushstroke is a tangible element. This enhances the sense of antiquity and physical strength inherent in the ancient warrior, who now seems to dissolve into the color and light of the modern world.
