(Артикул: М0028)
This original work «The light shines in the darkness» was created by the contemporary Austrian artist Walerij Baranow.
The painting by Walerij Baranow «The light shines in the darkness» is a powerful piece at the intersection of religious painting, Baroque, and contemporary art, executed in mixed media (wood, plaster, gold leaf, oil).
The canvas depicts a mystical ascent. In the lower part of the painting, dark dense clouds frame a sharp flight of stairs ascending upwards — a ladder leading from darkness to the source of light. The clouds are painted with thick, painterly strokes, creating a sense of depth and some anxiety in the lower space.
The climax is at the top: through a break in the heavens streams a dazzling golden light. Part of this radiance, captured on the canvas, is a sculptural figure of a putto (cherub), made using gold leaf, which gives it a real glow. The cherub likely holds a symbolic object, directing the flow of light downward.
The work by Walerij Baranow is a literal visualization of hope, faith, and spiritual ascent. The contrast between darkness (symbolizing earthly hardships) and golden radiance (a symbol of divine revelation) creates a tense but inspiring scene.
This painting can be hung on the wall in your apartment, house, office, restaurant, or hotel, and it will become a wonderful decoration for your interior.
