From the series "Summer in the Countryside"
Long ago, I was making a salad, and the vegetables were arranged very picturesquely on the countertop and cutting board. They were eventually photographed and later painted)) One of these paintings is called "For the salad." I decided it would fit into the summer series. I wanted to fill it not only with a piece of the garden, full of flowers, but also with fragrant vegetables and fruits picked by hand from the garden bed.
This original work «For the salad» was created by the contemporary Russian artist Yana Mikhailova and is available for purchase online.
Yana Mikhailova’s painting «For the salad» is a bright, lively, and appetizing still life executed in pastel technique, conveying the freshness and richness of summer vegetables. The artist uses energetic strokes and contrasting colors to create a sense of immediacy and vitality.
The composition centers around several key elements: three tomatoes and several stalks of green onions. The tomatoes, painted in vivid shades of red and raspberry, are positioned in the center and occupy the main space. Their shape is round, and the surface is rendered with textured, thick strokes, giving them volume and realism. It is clear that the tomatoes are ripe and juicy, ready to be eaten.
The green onion stalks are painted more graphically, in shades of green and yellow, with clear, elongated lines. They create a contrast with the rounded shapes of the tomatoes and add dynamism to the composition.
The background of the painting is an abstract blend of deep blue, purple, and green tones applied with broad, overlapping strokes. This background creates a sense of depth and highlights the bright colors of the vegetables. The play of light and shadow is conveyed through contrasting tonal transitions, making the image more voluminous and realistic.
Yana Mikhailova’s painting «For the salad» is not just a depiction of produce; it is a hymn to freshness and naturalness. The bright palette, expressive pastel texture, and appetizing shapes of the vegetables evoke the joy of the simple yet important process of preparing food. The work invites the viewer to taste the summer and enjoy the simple but so valuable gifts of nature.
You can hang this painting on the wall in your apartment, house, office, restaurant, or hotel, and it will become a wonderful decoration for your interior.
