The work was painted following a plein air session in the Subpolar Urals in the national park "Yugyd Va". The season was late summer; I remember it was cool, drizzling rain, and midges constantly stuck to the canvas. In this work, I wanted to convey the harshness of the region and at the same time its pristine beauty.
