Картина полностью написна с натуры. Было холодное, дождливое лето на Урале. В тот день мне это было наруку, ведь состояние не менялось весь день и я мог не гнаться за уходящим солнцем. Я спокойно сходил в наш лагерь художников на обед, поесть еды, приготовленной на костре, взял из палатки куртку, а когда вернулся к картине, то возле нее стояло стадо коров. Нюхали краски и даже смотрели что получается. Так среди них и продолжил рисовать.
