The painting «A look from the past» is part of the series «In the footsteps of vanished civilizations», which explores the connecting links between the past and the present. The visual language is based on the aesthetics of fragments. Etruscan ornaments appear not as complete images but as precious shards emerging through the layers of time. This fragmentariness becomes the main storytelling tool, turning the painting into an archaeological artifact and inviting the viewer to become a participant in a dialogue with vanished cultures.

Their proximity to the ancient bronze helmet visualizes the unity of times: past and present side by side.
Textural paste, oil and acrylic paints, wax, and bituminous varnish emphasize the contrast of textures: the patina of metal, the juiciness of the fruits, the roughness of the fresco.
In the background is a replica of a fragment of an Etruscan fresco depicting Velia Velcha — the Etruscan «Mona Lisa».
A philosophical text is organically woven into the pictorial canvas. A semi-transparent inscription emerging through the paint reads: «The past has gone into history, the future is shrouded in mystery, the present is the greatest of gifts».
