Continuing the theme started in the first part, Oksana Sotnikova’s painting “Thousands of Views 2” shifts the focus to a new, even colder and more detached space, intensifying the feeling of isolation.
At the center is again a «tree» — this time with a clearer, yet still bare and branched structure, growing out of a simple terracotta pot. However, the surrounding environment has radically changed: instead of a blue background, we see a silvery, almost metallic space, partially covered with gilding in the upper corner. This silvery background gives the scene a sense of sterility, a laboratory atmosphere, or existence in a cold, soulless world.
Around the tree, as before, numerous eyes «float,» but now they appear more detached and resemble bubbles or spherical lenses. While in the first work the eyes were lively and captivating, here they look more mechanical, like security cameras or elements of an artificial environment.
The tree is at the center of a «cloud» or vortex created by brushstrokes, which may indicate that it remains the focus of intense attention, but now this attention seems more passive and indifferent. «Thousands of Views 2» is a reflection on how even surrounded by thousands of observers, a person can feel utterly alone and frozen, with their growth and development taking place in conditions far from natural and warm.
