900 €
The Isaakievsky Catherdal is one of the most famous and grand temples of Saints Petersburg. Its construction lasted from 1818 to 1858 as the part of Auguste Montferrand's architectural project. The cathedral is dedicated to Saint Isaac of Dalmatia, the patron saint of Peter I. The building impresses with its size: the height is 101.5 meters, and the diameter of the dome is 26 meters. Inside of catherdal there are mosaics, paintings and sculptures, as well as columns made of malachite and lapis lazuli. The dome is covered by gold-plated plates, it took about 100 kilograms of gold to make it. The catherdal can be filled by 14 000 men and women at one time. During the era of USSR, the temple was turned into museum of atheism but now it once more operates as orthodox catherdal and museum. The watching platform in column openes panoramic view at the center of city. The Isaakievsky Catherdal is one of symbols of Saints Petersburg and Unesco Heritage Sight. The artist has empahized sophisticated sky. It is unusually for Saints Petersburg bright blue with frisky clouds. It is in balance with solemn architecture.
