The magical Christmas night over the Griboyedov Canal is full of bright atmosphere . The lanterns have already been lit and a light snow is falling in flakes. The lions stand as if enchanted and hold a huge structure on which people walk and cars drive. Sculptural grace and harmony of engineering define Lion's bridge in Saints Petersburg. The bridge across the Griboedov's channel became a triumph of courage and it was built in 1826 year. It is one of the first hanging structures. The span is like a taut string between the pragmatism of engineer von Tretter and the aesthetics of sculptor Sokolov. Lions's statues on the bridge are true guards of the bridge - the chains go right through their maws and are attached deeply to the axle. The lions are elements of construction.
