Painting "The lion bridge."
550 €
The work was written in the spring. The viewer is surrounded by the atmosphere of early spring. The Lion Bridge in St. Petersburg is a harmony of engineering and sculptural grace. Cast-iron lions by Pavel Sokolov do not just decorate the bridge, but are its structural basis, clutching chains in their teeth. Their manes echo the twisted grilles and lace cast-iron railings. Built in 1826, the bridge became a triumph of courage — it is one of the first hanging structures. The span is like a taut string between the pragmatism of engineer von Tretter and the aesthetics of sculptor Sokolov. At different times of the day, lion figures transform: in the morning they bathe in sunlight, in the evening they become mythological guardians. The proportions of the bridge create the illusion that the lions have just bitten the chains, and the whole structure is floating. This is a place where engineering turns into high creativity. Lion's Bridge — poetry in stone and metal.
