Its thick fur, expressive silhouette, alert ears - all this is painted deeply and plastically, masterfully generalized, devoid of unnecessary detail. The ram stands out against the background of a bright, multi-grass meadow, where green and golden shades are given with light strokes. In the distance, beyond the forest strip, there is a dark forest, over which clouds rise - the sky is transparent, open, as if filled with the early sun.
The artwork is made during all-russian plein air "Plastov's automn." in 2016. The Assembly of artists takes place each year in the village "Prislonikha" of the Ulyanovsk's region which is homeland of famous soviet artist Arkady Plastov. As the artist told, he intended to paint just the landscape but suddenly the black ram appeared. The aritist was impressed with appearance of the ram. It was absolutely black ram with bright red ribbon on the neck.
