This artwork has been selected as the finalist for the 2025 Richeson75 Landscape, Seascape and Architecture competition and exhibition.
I greatly admire the work of Aivazovsky. In this piece, the viewer can see not only the rhythm and rhymes of the crashing waves, but also my own allegorical “rhyme” with his art—a tribute to his mastery and a personal experience of the power and freedom of the sea, which can both inspire and soothe at the same time. The surges and retreats of the waves reflect the poetics of life itself—no matter how fierce the elements may be, there is always harmony and an inner rhythm.
In my works, I don’t use white paint or any paints that contain white pigment. All the white areas are simply the paper. I personally tested all my paints for lightfastness, so the colors will remain unchanged even after 50–70 years.
