The diptych «RUSSIAN STYLE» is a modern interpretation of the Russian style through the female image, design, fashion, tradition, history, and the artist's vision.

I used traditional ornaments from Russian folk crafts: Gzhel and Khokhloma. I have a special reverence for these two types of painting. My first education was as a wood painting artist, and the very first painting style I encountered was Khokhloma. I became acquainted with Gzhel a little later when I worked in Moscow workshops.

The golden background on the paintings. According to one version, the origin of the golden background in Khokhloma is attributed to Old Believer icon painters who transferred the gilding technique from icons. I also wanted to reflect this story in my works.

The diptych «RUSSIAN STYLE» is part of a series in which I use real coins from around the world in the design of jewelry.

The series «OBEREGI» is a contemporary artistic interpretation of the ancient tradition of wearing coin jewelry through the lens of the female image, design, fashion, history, and the artist's vision. The tradition of adorning oneself with coins dates back centuries and is found among many peoples of the world. Coins were sewn onto clothing and headdresses, strung as jingling bracelets and necklaces. Such items had not only decorative value — they served as powerful talismans, protecting wearers from evil spirits and misfortune, and were also symbols of wealth, social status, and inner strength.

The coins in my paintings are not just decorations. They are talismans. Symbols of preservation, strength, wealth, and protection. They are woven into the portraits just as they were sewn onto headdresses and clothing in ancient times: not only for beauty but also for power. Each heroine carries the voice of the past and the breath of the present. Their images are an artistic dialogue between tradition and personal vision, between archetype and modernity.

Within the framework of the Unique Russia exhibition, the diptych «RUSSIAN STYLE» became a laureate of the All-Russian competition of author’s works «Unique Masters of Russia».

This painting can be hung on the wall in your apartment, house, office, restaurant, or hotel, and it will become a wonderful decoration for your interior.
