The painting is an allegory of two of the most important stages of life — youth and maturity. The girl surrounded by a blooming apple tree and holding a fruit in her hand symbolizes this transition. The blooming tree represents youth: a time when we grow, learn, take, and fill ourselves. The apple symbolizes maturity: the ability to create, produce, and share. To share your experience, your fruits.
The period of maturity is unique to each person and does not depend on age. To emphasize the non-linear nature of growing up, I covered the background with gold leaf. The reflective surface of the gold added a sense of timelessness to the painting.
