The painting is an allegory of two pivotal stages of life — youth and maturity. A young woman, surrounded by a blooming apple tree and holding a fruit in her hand, symbolizes this transition. The blossoming tree represents youth, while the apple stands for maturity. Each person experiences this passage in their own way, but for everyone, it is associated with gaining knowledge, skills, and clarity in understanding their life’s purpose. Maturity is the pinnacle of self-realization — the “season of harvest.”
I covered the background with gold leaf. The reflective surface of the gold adds a sense of timelessness to the piece and, combined with the velvet-like texture of the wood, creates a harmonious resonance.
