Musical instruments are scattered in front of them – violins, a trumpet, a drum, a clarinet, but no one is playing. Their faces express thoughtfulness, alertness and even arrogance, as if they are deciding some important fate.
In front of them stand angelic figures in white robes with wings. They sing, holding plates and bells in their hands, their faces frozen in an expression of suffering or supplication. Their song reads despair or a desire to influence those sitting at the table.
The artist masterfully conveyed an atmosphere of theatricality: a combination of comedy and tragedy, light and shadow, play and reality. There is a hidden meaning in all of this – perhaps it is a metaphor for society, the music of life, lost harmony, or the confrontation between the authorities and the people.
