The city below is depicted fragmentarily, with tilted buildings, which creates the effect of an unsteady, unreal space. The color scheme of the painting - soft pastel shades with bright accents - emphasizes the atmosphere of dreaminess and melancholy.
The work seems to speak of the fate of the creator, his loneliness, struggle and departure. This is a reflection on a life filled with music and on what remains in the soul of eternity after us.
