This work won 1st place at the exhibition organized by the Eurasian Art Union "Cosmos. A Look into the Future" in the painting competition under the category: Avant-garde and Cosmos. April 13, 2025.
"150 Days from Earth" is my new painting, from which I continue to draw energy from the 1970s, where acrylic worlds pulse like the synthesizers of an old Kraftwerk* track.
Inside is a mix of solar wind, dreams of Mars, and a bunch of questions…
- Planets: turquoise + purple + raspberry = an explosion of hypercolor — like thoughts from Ziggy Stardust* (David Bowie) as he flew to Earth. Cosmic retro-nostalgia!
- She: a hologram from dreams, a cipher girl in a transparent helmet, like a time capsule from a future that never happened.
- They: abstract figures, like aliens or ghosts of old computers from the cover of an old psychedelic record. You can hear their whisper in a language not even Google Translate knows.
Why is this not just a painting?
My retro-futurism on canvas is a dialogue between the past, when people believed in flying cities, and the present, where we still seek beauty in chaos. If in your soul, in your dreams, you wear silver jumpsuits and see prophecies in old Sci-Fi magazines — then this painting is for you!
And now — a question:
If this painting sounded like music, what kind of track would it be? Share your associations in the comments! And yes, you can poke it with your finger — acrylic is stronger than our notions of reality.
P.S. Yes, the helmet is transparent. But the thoughts inside are more secret than the blueprints of the "Space Shuttle" from 1973.)
* Kraftwerk (from German — "power station") is a German music group from Düsseldorf that made a significant contribution to the development of electronic music. The group was formed in 1968.
* Ziggy Stardust is a fictional character created by David Bowie, who was the stage persona of the musician in 1972 and 1973.
