Tea is enchanted by jasmine.
The evening is lulled by a snowstorm.
Together with white paraffin
time melts into elastic
aromatic pastila.
And again Christmas Eve bakes
a vanilla cake and the room
smells of resin, like a fir forest.
And gifts in hiding places,
in undisguised excitement
rustling foil in bags,
wait for the midnight moment.
In the forge of a distant bell tower
a bell forges the dawn,
and in the window, as on an icon,
Christmas stands on the windowsill
with a star in her hand.
Gilded threads
in unison with the soul of the strings.
Sleep, feelings, thoughts, sleep
in the cradles of mercury moons.
The outline of a faded "pince-nez",
drawn by a candle.
Songs in a snowy half-sleep
all miss autumn.
Snowflakes from the starry sky -
chords from the cozy haze.
Muses are faithful servants -
hands protect the frets.
The tea has cooled,
the candle has gone to the ground,
the stove is blazing hot.
The cat is caressing, purring
satisfiedly, contentedly.
Очарован чай жасмином.
Убаюкан вечер вьюгой.
Вместе с белым парафином
время плавится упругой
ароматной пастилой.
И опять печёт Сочельник
торт ванильный и смолой
пахнет комната, как ельник.
И подарки в тайниках,
в нескрываемом волненье
шелестя фольгой в кульках,
ждут полночное мгновенье.
В кузне дальней колокольни
колокол зарю куёт,
а в окне, как на иконе,
Рождество на подоконник
со звездой в руке встаёт.
Позолоченные нити
в унисон с душою струн.
Спите, чувства, мысли, спите
в колыбелях ртутных лун.
Абрис блёклого «пенсне»,
нарисованный свечою.
Песни в снежном полусне
всё об осени скучают.
С неба звёздного снежинки –
из уютной мглы аккорды.
Музы верные служанки –
руки берегут лады.
Чай остыл, дотла – свеча,
печка пышет распалённо.
Кошка ластится, урча
сыто, удовлетворённо.
