Nikita Chaikovsky's painting «Горный пейзаж» is an explosion of color and texture, a hymn to the grandeur of mountain nature captured in the dramatic moment of sunset or sunrise. The artist's style is distinguished by a high degree of expression and the use of thick, impasto brushstrokes.
The composition is divided into three distinctly defined planes. The upper part is dominated by the sky and mountains. The mountains are painted in deep, cool tones—blues, purples, and dark lilacs—that emphasize their monumentality and remoteness. The peaks of some mountains are covered with bright white spots symbolizing snow caps, which contrast with the turbulent sky.
