This original authorial painting «The Being of Blindness, or The Parable of the Sower» was created by contemporary artist Nikolay Pak and is available for purchase online in our gallery.
«The Being of Blindness, or The Parable of the Sower» by Nikolay Pak is a multifaceted work that invites deep reflection on human nature, spirituality, and the path of knowledge. The painting is a complex allegory intertwining biblical narratives with contemporary motifs.
In the foreground, two figures are depicted. Her hands, painted in bright red tones, contrast with the overall muted palette, drawing attention to her actions. Next to her stands a second figure dressed in dark clothing and wearing a mask, symbolizing secrecy, possibly denial of truth or misunderstanding.
In the background, a plain resembling a field can be seen, where once the biblical sower cast his seeds, and above it—an abstract space with geometric shapes and symbolic elements. One of the figures in the center is bent over, as if carrying a heavy burden or immersed in thought. The composition is rich with symbols: the white sphere may represent a spiritual origin or an ideal world, while the chessboard pattern on the floor signifies the complexity of choice and life’s path.
The artist uses a subdued color scheme dominated by ochre, gray, and red shades, creating an atmosphere of tension and drama. The style of the work can be classified as symbolism with elements of expressionism.
Nikolay Pak masterfully conveys the emotional state of the characters and the depth of the meaning embedded in the painting, prompting the viewer to contemplate the blindness of the spirit, the search for truth, and the multifaceted nature of human existence.
