This painting has been with me throughout my creative growth, and I've been coming back to it for 10 years. The composition was born out of love for the sea, the images of nymphs are identified by me with the animated images of the element of water, if viewed through the mythological perception of nature. The images of the nymphs here are the embodiment of the water itself, their dance echoes the movement of the water. Their plastic silhouettes, the intertwining of waves and lines of hands are an ode to the Art Nouveau style, where every detail becomes music in a visual symphony. The color scheme I have chosen is restrained - restrained ochres, like the sun's glare on ancient frescoes - my deep reverence for antiquity and deep blue, in which the abysses of the sea are discernible - to emphasize the mystery of what is visible to the viewer.
