This original work “Thing-in-itself” was created by contemporary Russian artist Vasily Vlasov and is available for purchase online.
“Thing-in-itself” is a painting that immerses the viewer in the world of philosophy and metaphysics, exploring the idea of the inner essence of objects, inaccessible to direct knowledge. The title, “Thing-in-itself,” refers to Kantian philosophy, where Ding an sich (thing-in-itself) denotes an object existing independently of our consciousness.
Artist Vasily Vlasov creates this piece using a complex, multilayered composition dominated by shades of blue, navy, brown, and yellow, with touches of white and black. These colors create a sense of depth, mystery, and perhaps a certain melancholy characteristic of philosophical reflection.
The painting features abstract forms resembling stylized figures, plants, or ancient totems that seem to exist in their own world, indifferent to the external gaze. Their elongated, pointed shapes, executed with expressive brushstrokes and various textures, give them individuality and character.
The artistic style of the work can be classified as abstractionism with elements of symbolism and primitivism, where the artist uses various materials, collage, and sgraffito to create a multidimensional, expressive image.
“Thing-in-itself” is a piece that evokes curiosity, inviting reflection on the nature of knowledge, the limits of our perception, and the fact that some aspects of reality remain inaccessible to us, existing by themselves as the “thing-in-itself.”
This painting can be hung on the wall in your apartment, house, restaurant, or hotel, and it will become a beautiful decoration for your interior.
