In my work, I focus on the performative symbolic structure of painting. I draw on the ideas of Michel Foucault, particularly his analysis of the relationship between painting as an object and painting as an illusory volume, reinterpreted by the Impressionists. I seek ways to express the duality of the image itself — both framed and simultaneously unfolding into the virtual layers of consciousness. I strive to identify the midpoint of oscillations, which is localized precisely in optics, in perception.
I do not paint portraits, nor do I attempt to formulate a question or provide an answer, but I create an occasion to doubt the usual interpretation, the Lacanian Real. In this, I rely on the surrealism of Magritte with his visionary approach to the logic of conceptual art and even to the process of oscillations. I reject traditional aesthetic gradations, creating a painting-object with which the viewer engages in visual contact independently.
The painting is created using an original technique of multilayer oil painting on premium linen canvas. The painting is stretched on a stretcher frame, with edges 4 cm wide continuing the canvas.
