MOSCOW. The historic Gostiny Dvor building, where the wholesale trade of the Russian Empire once thrived, again became a center of attraction in October 2026—this time for those shaping the visual language of the contemporary Russian interior. The international design exhibition “Russian House. Creative Regions,” held here from October 7 to 9, brought together 90 interior installations and more than 250 speakers in its business program across 12,000 square meters.
The theme—“Russian House: Heart of Russia”—set the direction for a search for identity through material culture. Yet the central semantic focal point of the exposition, the element that turned it from an industry review into a cultural statement, was the stand of Baranow Art Gallery.

This was not simply an exhibition of paintings in the usual sense. The curated collection of contemporary Russian painting presented by the gallery fit organically into the fabric of the event. The works that drew genuine admiration from the public and professionals were those by Vyacheslav Gayun, Walerij Baranow, and Igor Terekhin—artists whose names are already familiar to collectors outside Russia. Their works set the tone for the entire space, functioning not as decorative additions but as a semantic center. And the highlight of the exposition was a work by artist Tatiana Danshina—a piece that attracted attention through its depth and became a point of attraction for viewers.

Specially for the exhibition, Baranow Art Gallery launched a dedicated section on its website titled “Art for Interior.” This new online resource allows visitors, designers, and collectors to explore and view paintings selected specifically for interior spaces. The section provides a curated look at how contemporary Russian art can transform residential and commercial environments. Explore the collection here: Art for Interior.

In the halls of Gostiny Dvor, where 41% of the audience consists of professional designers and architects, the paintings of Baranow Art Gallery served a dual function. They showcased current art and at the same time offered the professional community a tool for creating holistic interior solutions. This is a case in which painting becomes not an ornament but a subject of conversation, a thoughtful complement to space.

The media reach of the exhibition was significant. The event was covered by leading publications, and the Baranow Art Gallery stand consistently found itself in the spotlight. The portal Art-Release.rf directly called it “one of the most notable” at the exhibition. For international curators and collectors, this means that the gallery’s work—its curatorial method, its choice of artists, its presentation strategy—has been validated through independent channels and recognition by the professional community.

Baranow Art Gallery did not merely participate in the exhibition—it became part of its narrative, the semantic anchor connecting the commercial logic of the design forum with a broader cultural context. An international online gallery with its headquarters in Vienna, working with Russian artists, managed to integrate into an event conceived as a platform for the creative economy without losing curatorial rigor.
For collectors following the segment of contemporary Russian art, this is confirmation that the gallery is consistently building a long-term strategy. For curators and gallerists, it is an example of how an international platform can work with a local context without becoming provincial.
The story of Baranow Art Gallery at Gostiny Dvor is a clearly drawn line leading to new dialogues between art, architecture, and design.
