Vladimir Lebedev

Vladimir Lebedev

Country: Russia ·Born in 1968

Vladimir Lebedev (b. 1968) is a nuclear engineer by profession and an artist by passion. He graduated from the Leningrad Institute of Technology in 1993 and created artworks alongside his professional career. His development as an artist has continued throughout his life.

Primarily working with oil, Vladimir also explores other techniques such as acrylic, watercolor, pastel, pencils, and more. His artistic style lies between impressionism and realism, with impressionism mostly dominating through the expression of emotional components via the play of light and shadows, color spots and silhouettes, colors and hues, as well as unexpected angles and perspectives. To depict life as it is, Vladimir employs diverse technical approaches and tools, achieving a sense of movement with pasty strokes and combinations of rough wide strokes and fine details. Always in search of new forms and tools, he refines his style from one artwork to another.

His passion for drawing began in early childhood, continued through school and university, and then accompanied him as a hobby throughout more than a thirty-year career in nuclear energy. Along this path, his artistic activity gradually improved until it became not only a personal fulfillment but also a significant channel of communication between his inner world and all viewers, through which Vladimir shares his impressions and vision of life.

From 2013 to 2023, Vladimir lived and worked in France – a period that culminated in the formation of his own painting style and the intention to realize himself in the world of art.

He drew great inspiration from dozens of travels across France and other European countries, where he discovered amazing landscapes, historical and artistic sites, and vibrant architecture. With a good knowledge of French history and culture and a vivid imagination, he sought out places that touched his soul long before he saw them. Many artworks from that time invite viewers to see those points of beauty through the artist’s eyes and feel them through his heart. Often, he painted artworks in locations where great artists had worked, adding his own vision to their heritage. This was also a kind of silent dialogue with them, through which Vladimir received invisible lessons.

Despite lacking formal professional art education and being mostly self-taught, Vladimir, through observation, intuition, experimentation, and practice, found a way to shape his unique artistic style and vision. His artistic journey has spanned his entire life, supported by deep emotional resonance, technical exploration, and quiet perseverance.

Now residing in Sergiev Posad, Russia, Vladimir actively participates in art events: open calls, online galleries, and exhibitions.
