NIKOLAI DUNDIN
Born in 1950 in the Mogilev region, Republic of Belarus. Member of the Belarusian Union of Artists.
He lives and works in Vitebsk, continuing the traditions of the famous Vitebsk art school. Member of the creative association “Kvadrat,” the spiritual successor of Malevich’s UNOVIS in Vitebsk. He experiments extensively with color, working as a graphic artist and design project specialist. Museums and museum exhibitions, as well as original stained glass, dioramas, and mosaics, have been created based on his projects.
Nikolai Dundin would not be a Vitebsk native if he did not pay tribute to the Chagall tradition in art and did not engage in the transformation of space. The layering of visions, heterogeneous elements combined within the boundaries of a single canvas, and vivid color have become the foundations of the artist’s credo – a boiling magma of the world reflected in numerous fractured mirrors, which make his works resemble stained glass: sonorous, multilayered, full of the joy of existence on this earth.
The artist’s works have been acquired by museums in Russia, Belarus, Poland, Latvia, embassies of Switzerland, the Czech Republic, Italy, and are also held in private collections in Germany, France, Switzerland, the USA, Canada, Israel, Poland, Russia, and Latvia.
