Nikolay Reznichenko

Country: Russia ·Born in 1958

Reznicenko Nikolay Grigorievich was born in 1958 in the Saratov region, in the village of Yershov. After finishing school in the city of Slavyansk-on-Kuban, he entered the naval school in the city of Kerch, followed by military service (city of Kyiv), and then studied at the art school in the city of Krasnodar. In Kostomuksha (Karelia), where Nikolay has lived since 1982, he worked at a construction site and later taught painting and graphics in an art circle. It was there in Karelia (1986) that his first major exhibition was held; its success led to the participation of the artist's works in many subsequent exhibitions. The practice of icon restoration had a great influence on his painting. Since 1989, he has lived and worked in St. Petersburg.

The artist's works are in private collections in Russia, Kazakhstan, Germany, Great Britain, France, Switzerland, and the USA.

The artist's mastery is demonstrated in his unique ability to convey profound meaning through surprisingly simple forms and a minimalist approach from a very special perspective. Each line and form used in his works serves not only as an element of the composition but also as a carrier of exceptional emotional and semantic weight, subtly conveying simple figurative meanings.

The artist's unusually attractive style seems to resonate with truth. It incorporates the experience of restoring Orthodox icons and the traditions of Eastern Christian painting, showing how gracefully one can express feelings and inner experiences without unnecessary details. The special color palette used by the artist gives the works warmth, lightness, and creates an atmosphere of comfort and tranquility.

Such a desire for simplicity of forms can be perceived as a return to the basics of artistic expression, where the emphasis is on the inner content rather than ostentatious complexity, reflecting the fundamental aspirations of a person to seek happiness in its various manifestations. This skill allows the viewer to delve into the work, finding their own interpretations and symbols, which makes each of Nikolay's works truly unique.
