Natalya Zhadenova is a Russian artist who lives and works in Moscow. In 2007, she graduated from the Academy of Watercolors and Fine Arts. She participated in the Art Russia Fair in 2021, 2022, 2023, and 2025. Her works are being developed in new collections in Russia, the USA, Germany, and Sweden.
«The greatest interest in art for me is the possibility of dialogue between artists of different epochs, styles, and nationalities. That’s why I incorporate elements of other artists’ works into my own, filtered through the prism of my own perception. Cosplay and appropriation are the two main strategies I use to create my Illusion – the Universe of "PERPETUUM FLORIUM" inhabited by "blooming" people.
With the help of flowers as symbols, I explore the personality of a person, removing social masks and revealing the inner world. After all, a flower is beautiful not because someone looks at it, nor because it is caressed by the rays of the sun – but because inside it is real, great, and beautiful.
Thanks to references to different historical epochs, the Past, Present, and Future on my canvases dissolve into each other and exist simultaneously, breaking the illusion of linear time and collapsing it into the moment "here and now," prompting a dialogue about the Eternal.
The works are executed in a realistic manner. The most tactile mediums – pastel and velvet cardboard – allow me to create a three-dimensional and almost tangible image. This gives the viewer the opportunity to easily feel the nature of familiar objects while expanding the horizons for the flight of imagination to see the complex versatility of the embedded idea in a familiar image. I also use fluorescent acrylic in some of my works, which creates a glowing effect.»
