Anna Nemchinova

Born in 1982

Member of Helsinki International Artists Association.

Russian artist Anna Nemchinova was born and raised beyond the Polar Circle, where she has absorbed the harshness, beauty, and contrasts of the North. Her painting palette is restrained, leaning toward a graphic style. Elements of traditional culture intertwine with symbols of the 90s: time of her youth - imbuing her work with nostalgic resonance.

Atmosphere, sincerity, and originality are the hallmarks of her series and cycles. The artist captures fleeting moments, directing scenes within the pictorial space as if trying to grasp a particular state of mind, intuitively understanding her characters. Her figures seem to emerge from a world of fairy tales, folklore, folk parables, and songs, awakening deeply buried memories in the viewer.

The world of images created by Anna Nemchinova gives rise to a new culture—one that is strikingly contemporary precisely because it returns us to the roots of folk wisdom, to those layers of Russian culture woven from the legends, fairy tales, and ritual songs of our ancestors.
