In 1997, he graduated from the Tolyatti branch of the Samara State Pedagogical University. Since 1996, he has been working as a teacher at Children's Art School No. 1 in Zhigulevsk. His teaching experience spans 28 years. From 2002 to 2007, he worked as a lecturer at Tolyatti State University in the Faculty of Fine and Decorative-Applied Arts. Since 2012, he has been a member of the State Examination Commission and involved in the defense of master's theses at TSU, in the Faculty of Fine and Decorative-Applied Arts. In 2020, he was also invited to join the State Examination Commission of the Volga Region Academy of Education and Arts named after Saint Alexius.

In 2015, Igor Mikhailovich Posokhin was admitted to the Creative Union of Professional Artists of Russia.
In 2019, he became the winner of the Provincial Festival "Born in the Heart of Russia." In 2022, a solo exhibition of his creative works took place at the "Koleso" Theater in Tolyatti and in the hall of the Creative Union of Artists of Russia in the Tolyatti urban district. In 2022, he was awarded the bronze medal of the Creative Union of Artists of Russia. Since 2023, he has been a lecturer for the All-Russian Society "Znanie." In 2024, he became the laureate of the first place of the All-Russian Arts Award in Moscow.
Igor Mikhailovich has participated in such television projects as "To Walk a Hundred Roads," episode 22 "Zhigulyovsk" in Moscow, the "Culture" channel's TV project "Province," episode "Zhigulyovsk" in Saint Petersburg, as well as features on the Gubernia channel.
