Elena Lobashova
Elena Lobashova is an artist with a unique perspective on contemporary painting. Member of the Professional Union of Artists of Russia. I live in the city of Kazan, Republic of Tatarstan. With a higher academic education in art, preceded by training at an art college and a children's art school, she undoubtedly has extensive experience in classical representational painting. However, she finds simple representation of the real world on canvas boring and uninteresting. In her opinion, that is the realm of artistic photography. She sees the purpose of the artist in something entirely different. The impression—an opportunity to experience vivid emotions—is the task that is evident in the artist's works. Through flowers painted in a single breath, she conveys the fleeting mood, admiration, and appreciation for them. This is not "botanical painting," although the flowers are recognizable. Each petal, with its anatomical details, is not meticulously rendered. The brush boldly applies paint to the canvas, and this dynamic of quick strokes is easily perceived by the viewer, inexplicably filling us with vibrant energy and joy. The artist paints her works quickly, and perhaps that is why the flowers in her paintings appear so alive and tender.
Elena is a remarkably versatile individual. In addition to painting, she takes her musical pursuits seriously, particularly in vocal performance. These two passions—color and harmonious sound—inevitably reflect in the artist's creative explorations. Her recent works embody the MUSIC OF COLOR. Based on the same IMPRESSION, the paintings have transformed into mosaic color canvases, where specific images are not discernible, but there is always a mood and harmony of color. They do not require close examination for details but always stir the imagination.
For some, associative real compositions may come to mind, while others may feel compelled to compare them to a musical genre—waltz, blues, suite. Despite their apparent simplicity, creating such canvases is much more challenging.
These paintings are very fitting in modern interiors; serving as unique antidepressants, they not only enliven the space but also fill it with the life force and energy of the talented artist.
