When I created this painting, I wanted to capture a very specific atmosphere — that subtle irony and mystery I feel in the very idea of the French manner. The two female figures are not simply characters to me, but reflections of the multifaceted nature of the feminine soul. They resemble mirrors of each other, yet each reflection carries a nuance that changes the perception entirely.
The bright scarves wrapped around their heads symbolize an inner fire — a hidden strength that frames feminine fragility. In their hands, they hold crimson spheres, a metaphor of choice, temptation, and at the same time, the vital feminine energy that gives life and fullness.
I wanted the viewer to feel the play of contrasts: the soft coolness of the background and the bold decorativeness of the patterned floor, the restraint of their poses and the drama of color. All of this unites into an image that resists a single, clear reading.
This work is about a woman who knows how to be many things at once: tender and strong, ironic and serious, light and whole at the same time. French Manner is my hint that beauty always hides in nuances, in half-tones, in intonations that do not shout but gently whisper to the viewer: look deeper.

Made on high-quality canvas (100% Linen, canvas density 400 gr / meter) stretched on a high quality wooden stretcher frame. Used the best Russian oil paints produced in Russia, the city of St. Petersburg.
