Malerei "Composition # 273"
4000 €
A 90 x 120 cm oil on canvas composition. Unlike most my abstract compositions, it is centered and symmetrical, it's a rare case when I've applied central symmetry.
I did this picture having Halloween in my mind. The minimalistic interplay of colors is bold and bright.
In my compositions, I keep the planes minimalistic with crisp edges like in “hard-edge painting”.
Abstract geometry is something like higher mathematics, it’s a very rare style for Russia, it is also called logical abstractionism or intellectual abstractionism and even "cold abstraction". This style comes from classical Modernism of the early XX century, from Russian Kazimir Malevich and Dutch Piet Mondrian whom I consider the founding fathers of the style. Mondrian and Malevich, together with Wassily Kandinsky, founded more than a hundred years ago not only geometric abstraction, but abstractionism in general.
I am essentially a Modernist, I don’t solve problems on canvas that are outside of painting like plot or similarity; instead, I show the viewer the means of painting itself – color, shape, composition; and I make them directly give rise to thoughts and feelings. To some extent, this is pure visual, a game in a big way, but with minimalist means. This is how real art should be.
This painting has been exhibited in several group and solo exhibitions and reproduced in my books.
Gallery stretch canvas, the image is continued on the edges, framing is not required. Professional hanging wire is mounted on 2 sides. Signature, name and date on back. My paintings come with a certificate of authenticity. I sign my artworks on back so as not to upset the balance of the delicate composition with an artifact such as signature.
