I live by the sea, but it is only warm in summer and early autumn. For the rest of the year, I find myself waiting for these days to return. This piece was painted in the spring, just as the growing pulse of summer began to be felt. The work captures the living breath and energy of the sea wave at the height of a warm, sunny day. I wanted to convey that special, exhilarating rhythm of summer, when everything is filled with light, movement, and freshness. Since I paint without using white paint, creating certain effects in this work required new creative techniques.
In my works, I don’t use white paint or any paints that contain white pigment. All the white areas are simply the paper. I personally tested all my paints for lightfastness, so the colors will remain unchanged even after 50–70 years.
