The painting depicts a fragment of a female portrait, painted in a technique that combines realism and abstraction. The central place is occupied by the graceful neck and shoulder of the woman, turned in profile to the left, with a slight bend of the head back - a gesture as if filled with dignity and a desire to open up. The lines of the body and skin are painted very softly and sensually, with detailed elaboration of light and shadow, which gives the image plasticity and depth.
However, the face and the upper part of the head are separated and seem to be erased by a wide, incomplete fill: a dense horizontal strip of matte white and cream strokes runs over the fragment of the face and hair. This abstract part covers/blurs the individuality of the heroine, leaving only a mysterious hint of her appearance and emotions. The background is made in deep, almost black and brown tones, with rare spots of light - they seem to dissolve in the darkness, emphasizing isolation or internal conflict.
The composition gives the impression of an internal search, loss or a gap between the external appearance and consciousness, and also asks about the identity of a person in the modern world.
