I used a coarsely woven fabric (burlap) as a canvas. The canvas is glued to a hard base, well primed and painted with gold paint.
I think that the rough texture of the canvas in combination with the gentle female nature enhances the emotional tension of the painting. The union of tenderness and roughness in combination with gold creates an interesting effect that fits well with my style of painting at the moment.
