Born in Saransk, graduated from the Art School named after F.V. Sychkov, Kharkov Academy of Design and Arts (painting department).
Member of the Union of Artists of Russia since 2005.
The artist's works are made in the best traditions of the Russian painting school. In Valentin Korotkov's paintings, technical skill and high professionalism are combined with a sense of harmony and joy of being, which makes them popular and in demand among collectors.
The lyricism of landscapes and original Russian female images is emphasized by the freshness and purity of color, as well as the artistic technique of visually capturing a moment, reminiscent of the legacy of the artist Philip Malyavin, in whose work the features of Art Nouveau and Impressionism were organically intertwined. However, Valentin Korotkov's authorial style is recognizable and impresses with a combination of dynamic brushstrokes and strict, verified composition.
Like many representatives of the Russian painting school, Valentin Korotkov does a significant part of his work outdoors, directly in nature. The artist's work pays special attention to the portrait genre and landscape, equally depicting nature and the urban environment.
