Vladimir Georgievich GREMITSKIKH was born on December 14, 1916, in Novonikolayevsk (Novosibirsk).

From 1932 to 1936, he studied at the Moscow Art School named after 1905 under Konstantin Klaudianovich Zefirov, and later under Mikhail Sokolov.

From 1936 to 1942 (with a break for the front), he studied at the Moscow Art Institute named after V.I. Surikov under such renowned masters as Pyotr Dmitrievich Pokarzhevsky, Vasily Vasilyevich Pochitalov, Igor Emmanuilovich Grabar, and Sergey Vasilyevich Gerasimov, in whose workshop Vladimir Gremitskikh completed the institute.

I.E. Grabar and S.V. Gerasimov singled out V. Gremitskikh as one of the most talented students in the course.

The works of V.G. Gremitskikh are held in 32 museums across the Russian Federation: in the State Tretyakov Gallery, the State Museum of the Defense of Moscow, the State Literary Museum (Moscow), the State Museum and Exhibition Center "ROSIZO" (Moscow), the Vologda Regional Art Gallery, the Krasnoyarsk, Kaliningrad, Sakhalin, Samara, Tomsk, Tesinsky (Krasnoyarsk Territory), Bryansk, Chuvash, Bashkir, and Starooskolsky (Belgorod Region) art museums, in the historical and art museum of the city of Stakhanov, in the Republican Museum of Fine Arts in Yoshkar-Ola, in the City Art Gallery "Vernissage" in Nakhodka, in the Salsk Museum named after the People's Artist V.K. Nechitaylo (Salsk, Rostov Region), in the museum and exhibition centers of Chita, Norilsk, and Achinsk (Krasnoyarsk Territory), in the Magadan Regional Museum of Local Lore, in the historical and art museums of Domodedovo (Moscow Region), Iskitim (Novosibirsk Region), and Valuyki (Belgorod Region), in the All-Russian Memorial Museum-Reserve of V.M. Shukshin, in the Kurganinsk Historical Museum (Krasnodar Territory), as well as in the art museums of Magnitogorsk, Astrakhan, Oryol, Belgorod, and Yaroslavl.

There are also paintings by V.G. Gremitskikh in foreign museums. In particular, his work "Lilac" is held in the Horimitsu Museum in the city of Miki (Japan), acquired by the museum from the now-defunct "Gekkoso" gallery, which was located in Tokyo's upscale Ginza district and specialized in Soviet fine art.

Many works by V.G. Gremitskikh adorn private collections in Russia and abroad (in almost all European countries, as well as in the USA, Canada, Japan, South Korea, and Argentina).

Vladimir Georgievich Gremitskikh died on August 2, 1991, in Moscow.

Education

Honored Art Worker of Russia (title awarded posthumously on September 5, 2017)

Since 1944, V.G. Gremitskikh was a member of the Union of Artists. Since 1943, he was a regular participant in almost all Moscow, republican, and all-Union exhibitions. He was awarded diplomas from MOSKh RSFSR and MGO KhF RSFSR.

When then U.S. Vice President A. Gore visited Moscow in 1994, at the request of the American side, his apartments were decorated with 14 works by V.G. Gremitskikh and 2 works by A.F. Tokareva from the collection of the artist’s son, Alexander Gremitskikh. V.G. Gremitskikh’s paintings were also sold at auctions in London and Paris.

According to the group of art historians "TopArt," Vladimir Georgievich Gremitskikh is among the 100 best Russian artists from Theophanes the Greek to the present day. 

In 2009, for his personal contribution to the revival and strengthening of the traditions of world culture and art, Vladimir Georgievich Gremitskikh was posthumously awarded the "Talent and Vocation" medal by the International Association "Peacemaker".

On September 14, 2017, he was posthumously awarded the Honorary Medal of the Professional Union of Artists of Russia.

 From February 11 to February 26, 2016, a solo exhibition of the artist was held in the exhibition hall on the 3rd floor of the Sergey Andriyaka Academy at 15 Akademika Vargi Street, Moscow.
