Maimeri Classico oils, Italy. Gallery-stretched linen canvas, gessoed after stretching, the image is continued on the edges of the painting, framing is not required but is acceptable and depends on the interior. Professional hanging wire is mounted on all 4 sides. Signed, titled and dated on back. I sign my works on back not to disturb the balance of the delicate composition with an artifact such as signature.
The painting was exhibited at numerous group and solo exhibitions, including my solo shows out of Russia. Images of this painting are in books that I authored.
Why do I express my thoughts and feelings mainly in paintings on canvas - a technique that is already half a thousand years old? - I just enjoy this old technology process! But there is also an element of competition, shop pride and connection through centuries with my great predecessors, which obliges me and does not allow me to relax.
A visual work is only worth something when it is self-sufficient and does not need comments, explanations, justifications or verbal support. If a picture cannot do without verbal support, then it is hopeless, and words will not save it.
